Home Happenings - September 2017

Thursday, September 14, 2017

The beautiful, fall weather is upon us here at Carroll House!  Our residents have been taking advantage of the cooler temperatures here lately as they enjoy some outdoor time.  One of our favorite pastimes is simply sitting outside, watching nature change through the seasons and visiting with each other.

Now that the season is changing and the temperatures are getting cooler, it's a perfect time to swap out the clothes in your loved ones closet.  When you get a chance, be sure to bring in clothes for the cooler days and take home the clothing from summer.

Home Happenings - May 2017

Thursday, May 25, 2017

The residents and staff here at Carroll House celebrated National Nursing Home Week May 15th - May 19th.  The theme of the entire week was "The Spirit of America" and we planned numerous activities and themed days to honor the theme.

Take a look at some of the fun things we did during the week...

We had a "Spirit of America" themed bake off.  There were lots of entries of delicious deserts but three dishes took home the prize!  1st place went to JoJean Colborn with a patriotic truffle dish, 2nd place went to Cassie Prior with strawberry and blueberry mini cheesecakes and 3rd place was won by Tammy Wellman with a strawberry pie.

We were entertained by a night of dancing by the Shapes Dancers.  The dancers were fantastic and our residents loved watching them perform in their adorable costumes!

Our residents took place in a wheelchair version of Hungry Hungry Hippo too!  After the game, we served hippo shaped sugar cookies and punch.

During National Nursing Home Week, Carroll House held their Annual Spelling Bee.  One resident and one staff member were paired up to take the reign of the champion.  Winners of the Spelling Bee this year was Doris Sorrels and Tiffany Pierson, Administrator.

Our staff and residents would like to thank Hometown Pharmacy for wanting to be a part of National Nursing Home Week.  They provided our residents with canvases and painting supplies so they could paint American flags in recognition of this years theme.

Finally, we concluded a week full of fun and laughter with an honorary BBQ for local Veterans and VFW members.
